SEBO Felix bites the dust

After a long history of problems that Sebo refused to to repair under the warrantee I finally gave up and put the thing in the bin, it’s a shame as it was so well designed, but what a waste of money it cost me over £200 to buy + tools and then I spent about £150 having it repaired 3 times. We have had 3 SEBO's over about 10 years and they have all been junk. We use a Miele with PN as the main vacuum but a need to buy a new daily upright for quick clean ups I’m not sure what to get next thinking my be an Air Ram has anyone here used one ? Or may be I should just look for a vintage Hoover upright in mint con'd

Faults

Always the same with all the SEBO's i've had switch and cables, My local dealer has had an ongoing battle with SEBO for years as he has so many of them come back all with the same faults. apart from that I would still say its one of the best vacuums I have ever had but having tried an x1 and 2 felix I'm not going to buy a 4th SEBO. I have never had a problem with any other vacuum apart from an electric hose on one of the Miele's and they replaced it with out question.

I would get another Miele or are there any Tacony products in the UK? They are great.

I'm a little surprised in your Sebo experience. I was under the impression that their build quality was supposed to be good. I don't like Sebo cause I've had very poor cleaning experience and not user friendly with the few machines I've used of theirs. Oh well, now I really can't recommend them.

If you want a daily vacuum cleaner along the same lines as the Felix, why not consider the Vax Mach Air 3? It has a new swivelling floor head and like the Air Ram, it is bagless, but with a slightly bigger dust capacity. Or if you want to go cheaper, try Hoover's new Globe uprights. My money would be on the Vax Mach Air Reach model as it comes with a long cord just like the Felix and a detachable extension hose. I tried the Air3 but it wasn't for me - much prefer the flatter fixed position of the original Mach Air design.

i can agree if your looking for something like that i have both the mach air pet and the air 3 total home the bristles on the air 3 are stiffer so do a beter with carpet pile and they have a larger capacity and higher air watts but the mach air pet seems easier to use and although its air watts are lower if i use the same turbo tool on both machines the mach air pet spins it so much faster
but both do a good job especially with all my animals

Well the original Mach Air has a 1.5 litre dust capacity compared to the Air3's 2 litre dust capacity. Not much there other than 0.5 litres more which for a bagless vac, is really not that much of a bonus. I like your video though!

Whilst I like the look of the Air3, I wasn't that impressed with the turning swivel of the floor head. Maybe its just me - I'm more used to a heavier, more quality feel with the Felix - the Air3's floor head just doesn't seem to feel planted on carpets despite its rear wheels. Do you find this? I find the original fixed position easier in this respect and I adore softer bristles for my wool carpets.

Many Thanks to all, I'm looking at a used Vorwerk later to-day I only need a quick daily run-about as the Miele do's a realy good job but its a pain to use every day for just a quick job

Sebo Felix

For you to have gone through 4 Sebo's in less than 10 years I think you need to look at the user rather than blaming the machine! Any vacuum cleaner cable will fail if the cable is over stretched or constantly wound too tight.
Sebo cleaners are regarded as one of the most reliable and well built cleaners on the market among users and repairers alike.
Interestingly I see you are looking at a Vorwerk, I am led to believe that the Sebo Felix was designed by the same person.

Well, the thought did cross my mind. However, I find that SEBO vacuum cords last the longest if they have the original cord with sealed plugs rather than a refurbished unit or a handle with a cord and removable plug. The amount of times I had to keep reseating the plug onto the cord on my X1.1 every couple of months drove me mad until I finally bought a replacement cord with a sealed plug and stitched/wired it into the X1.1's handle. That was three years ago - the X1.1 is used mostly every day, and no problems.
