I agree with Marcus, I'm not a fan of using a machine without a brushroll on bare floors.

One option is that Sebo sell all their additional tools separately, so you could always use the extension hose, extension wand and a straight suction floorhead on bare floors if you wanted. It would save owning 2 machines but might be a bit faffy to cart additional tools around.

Chris am I dreaming or did you just agree with me? Gees you cud knock me over with a feather! Haha :-)

I think you mean on hard floors, you're not a fan of using a machine WITH a brush roll, though, Chris?

Marcus - it all comes down to what owners do with their vacuums. In the years before we had marble tiling and where laminate had been used, the laminate could be vacuumed with the X upright; it made no marks, no scratches and the delicate brush roll used always cleaned up easily, all that despite the metal plate at the front.

Another good upright in my experience for hard floors is the Oreck XL.

Whoops, sorry, my mistake! Glad you got the gist of it, Nar.

And as you rightly pointed out, it's all about experience. The only bare floors I've ever had have been laminate or lino, and a vacuum with no brushroll off function has never done a great job on either but I never had the delicate brushroll in the vacuum.

Well not always - SEBO don't make replacements for nothing - the rubber squeegee eventually wears down, and actually I can't think of any other brand who offer replacement slide in rubber squeegee strips, unless its a wet and dry brand.

Infact the one thing that annoys me intensely whenever I clean hard floors with most hard floor tools is that they don't often scoop up the actual "dust." Dirt, yes but the dust gets wound around the bristles which then require to be cleaned off manually.

Have they stopped the replacement squeegy in america think I saw a video where Eddie ezvacuum said the squeegy came in the service box?[this post was last edited: 2/2/2015-14:02]

And the X4 has been upgraded to a C on carpet from a D. I'm tempted to buy a used one on eBay.
I watched Steve's video on YouTube and I'm having second thoughts about the auto height adjustment. Maybe it cleans better than I first thought! :-)

The G1 is great, it's better than the automatic adjustment. The bottom doesn't have the rubber strip. As regards to cost it was cheaper buying the G1 with the delivery £179 including the delivery.

The SM2 I have just floats on setting 2 and pick up is fantastic. The bigger floor head in my home is such a boon! I used it just this afternoon and did the house in 15 mins compared to what I am used to with the X1A. The X1A is probably going to be the second eldest "vintage" upright I now have, to the SEBO 360. The bigger floor head makes all the difference.

The sealing strip is available to buy from SEBO UK as a separate part. SEBO don't see it as being a major part to sell WITH the service box. Thus its an optional cost.
