Hi all,

Hope someone can help.

I'm troubleshooting a faulty D4 Premium. This has the powerhead and suction controls on the handle.
What is the default behaviour if you power on the D4 with the hose unplugged? Does it stay in its last state or power on the motor full blast?
I know my K3 powers on the motor full blast, but I'm not familiar with the D4.

Thanks!

Speed with no hose

Mine turns onto full power. I reduced it's power using the hose then shut the machine off, removed the hose and started it up 2x it goes back to full power.

Fixed!

I temporarily fixed the D4 today!

After sourcing a replacement main PCB and fitting it, nothing changed, 2 blue lights and nothing happened, no motor spin up and no voltage to the motor.

I'd already checked the motor wasn't seized and the brushes were good. The wiring to the hose socket on the body was also good, so the only culprit must be the hose.
I took the hose handle apart and found another little PCB with some wires and buttons, those buttons worked OK, but I needed to find the other end of the wires... I took the handle apart further and found the red wire broken in half in the rotating hose cuff!
Soldered and taped it back together and we had lift off! This explains why I couldn't troubleshoot the original PCB, it wasn't broken.

I need to take it apart the hose handle even more to see if I can find the true 'end' of the red wire and replace the entire wire, because I think the rotating of the cuff will wear out my solder join.

Hope this helps someone else in the future. To test a UK/240V D4, a working hose is required.
