Sears bags

Last time I went to Sears I noticed that they don't seem to have the older style bags that had the bag number printed on squares on them. Now they seem to have another brand of bags, belts, and filters in stock. The only things that come in the Sears plastic bags with a burgundy top are the replacement attachments for the Kenmore canisters.

So did Sears stop packaging genuine parts? I noticed when we used the older bags in our canisters they did a better job than the grocery store generics.

Just My Opinion, But....

....Sears is in a free-fall from which it may not - and in my opinion, probably will not - recover.

The aftermarket will supply bags for their cleaners for a long time to come, even if Sears itself goes belly-up, so that's not a problem. But attachments, brushrolls and hard parts will become a problem.

Well, even more of a problem than they already are. I have eliminated all Sears from my house because of the poor service from Sears Parts.

If you have a Kenmore you're fond of, a little stocking up on wear items and breakables might be in order, I'm thinking.

One thing that I have noticed is that the canister (50403) bags are thinner than they used to be about a year ago. I personally think they are starting to go the cheap way, and are not making true quality parts and bags anymore.

That's happened to the 5023/5033 bags as well. The older originals were thicker.

I know what brand these were now - it was Ultracare. So I'm guessing the thinner bags you have bought were Ultracare and Sears no longer sells Sears branded bags, belts, or filters.

The Ultracare thing

I'm thinking "Ultracare" is just Sears' brand to slap on the OEM products. Technically, it's still "genuine". The Ultracare belts have the Sears part number printed on them.
