Hey guys, here's one of my latest finds. It's not something I was really looking for, but came across in a local thrift store. I was intrigued & home with me it went. It cleaned up well & has quite a bit of suction for such a lil guy. The turbo nozzle goes 90 to nothin! The nozzle a bit rattley, but I suppose maybe that's the nature of these? It had some bags with it as well. I call it the bumblebee. LOL

I had one if these years ago. Was a very good cleaner but didn't last long at all. The motor burned up.

It looks like we've got the same model i like them they are not too loud as you said powerful suction for the size the turbo nozzle isn't too horrid either, if they just would have done it with an electrified nozzle it could have been a great lightweight

Sorry to be so obsessed about Consumer Reports rankings, but I have always remembered top-ranked vacs from their tests over the years.....

...and the Sanyo Transformax was indeed rated the top "stick-vac" in the mid-1990's at some point!

If I remember correctly, the particular model tested was the simpler blue version, which did not have a turbo nozzle. It also only came with a crevice tool to attach to the hose. I always wanted this more deluxe yellow version - because the turbo nozzle would clean carpets a little better, and because it also came with a dusting brush.

The amazing thing about this vac is that it is another in the "lift-off" category of vacs! You can remove the main unit from the wands and use it like a canister vac, and you can remove the hose and use the main unit as a hand vac.

My friend Tony bought one right after the good test results were published in Consumer Reports, and he will not part with that great vac - no matter how hard it is to find bags now!

Consumer Reports

Brian, thanks for the info about the Cosumer Reports article on it. I am not surprised that they ranked it top stick vac. It does a decent job.It does have the crevice tool with it, its stowed on the back of the handle, not visible in the pic. I wasn't aware that there was also a dusting brush. I wonder where the dusting brush would have stowed on the vac? I don't see a place for it to mount.

Hey "Kansas Brian"! If I remember correctly, there should be another clip on the wand somewhere to hold the dusting brush above the crevice tool. The brush was always visible hanging onto the back of the wand in promo literature or website pic. I'll try and find a web pic to show you.

It's nice and quiet, don't ya think? And powerful too. It's actually a pleasure to use split apart - with the vac in one hand and the hose and wands in the other.

Too bad they don't make them anymore. Sanyo was bought by Panasonic a few years ago.....

Brian - look at this link - it shows a pic of the silver version with turbo nozzle and it looks like the dusting brush is clipped on the vac BELOW the crevice tool. It's hard to see, but you can make out the brush in this photo...

I'm late but...

Congrats! I had one from 2009-2010 that I bought from Listia, but I let my mom take it to one of her houskeeping houses and it never came back! I Still miss it to today!

Heya Canadian Brian!

Thanx for the additional info pics & video link. So, I am guessing that mine must have had a clip on the wand that has since went missing along w/ the dusting brush. Maybe someday I will run across one.

I do think its quiet. I was pleasantly surprised the first time I turned it on. I thought it would be a screamer.
Mine does have a rattle in the turbo brush, not quite sure if that was a common thing or if it has to do with the way I re-assembled it after cleaning & sanitizing it.

Also, the way it disassembles for caniter use is quite clever & using it is very natural. Holding the canister with one hand & vacuuming with the other.

I really think it has great suction for it's compact size! That's another thing that really surprised me when I first tried it out
