Sanitronic polisher

How do you get the brushroll out of the head to change belt?
I did it with the D50 as the rubber bumper guards come off though not so easy & even more difficult to put back on.
the bumpers on the sanitronic seem to be attached inside the head & not sure now to get them off to access the screw.

Can someone please help?

Usefulness

Has anyone had luck using the polisher to damp fluff a rug or wash a floor? trying to put these things to use as my new prereq for things I keep is they have to earn there keep...

Also how do you use the handi waxer & what model is this part for?

Christine, that part looks to be for a Sanitronic series, either Sanitronic VII or Dual Sanitronic 50. Kirby had wax in packets that fit into these units.

The "polisher" is not going to work well for fluffing a rug or washing a floor. The polisher brush is the horsehair brownish-colored brushroll bristles. The "rug renovator" looks the same, but the brushroll bristles are black in color. These bristles are a bit stiffer, and thus can scrub or lift the nap.

Polisher should polish vinyl floor?

Thanks, its just that they are great natural bristle brushes & no one makes things like this anymore. I never tried the polisher head yet. I have extra polisher heads I can part with but I'm also thinking maybe I shouldn;t as I will never get horsehair brushes again even if Kirby made replacement polisher brushroll they would be nylon.

Originally the D50 brush roll came with natural bristle on the vacuum too & now they are nylon.
I also have the rug renovator & did use it with the kirby solution last year. Between that & then running over it sort of to rinse/extra clean with the rainbow rug cleaner.

I just did the rugs with a hoover scrub n polisher recently & was impressed how easy it was.

I imagine I could use some kirby solution in the hoover too but the dilute simple green solution & those great rotating brushes did a really nice job of cleaning & lifting the nap.
They also washed the linoluem which I then went over with the Lux B9 polisher. That shined the vinyl flooring to almost a glass finish just by using the brushes & no wax.
The B9 doesn't work on the carpets at all so I am thinking its just a polisher & I don't like to have extra things around but it worked so good I can't let it go now.

Still I have too much & I am just spending too much time just using the vacs & trying to decide which I really need & which I can part with & ITS HARD

I can't see how that handi waxer hooks on kirby though & think its filled with wax. Wonder if its wax for wood?
It might not be good to use the old wax on linoleum as it could end up getting sticky & hard to remove.

I might want to see how the Kirby polisher does compared to the lux. Totally different spinning.
The b9 has 3 wheels that spin & the kirby brushroll just rotates.

Like the kirby D50 but really trying to keep things that I can use.

Handiwaxer usage

According to a Kirby dealer here, it goes like this:
1. Unclamp the lid and cut some openings in the bag of wax (the wax must be sufficiently soft, old wax will probably be too hard).
2. Reclamp the lid
3. Insert the curved extension wand from the tool kit into the metal handle of the waxer.
4. Insert the straight long wand into the curved wand.
5. Now with this J-shaped long handle (the wands) you are supposed to push the waxer over the floors (no plastic cap on it). The felt pad will spread the wax while the metal lid keeps squeezing new wax down from the bag in it. To get more wax, push the wands down harder.

Not sure whether this is correct as given in the manual (don't have any), but I found it works.
