Yep. Must be a central vacuum version. Standard wand fits the hose end. The external cord can connect to the hose cuff connection.

That's a very cool Sanitaire, it does remind me of some old Miele's.
If this is such an exotic-looking Sanitaire, then my bet is that it would have the Express powerhead with the VGIII.

They came with the Vibragroomer. It is a 1980s rebadge of the Electrolux Z457, made in Germany.
For the fun of it, I did a bag search and found the following models used the same style. That's not to say that they were all identical in overall design to the S490 and Z457 but there may be a few others on the listing that are.

There are synthetic microfiber HEPA dust bags for these available in Europe.
I wasn't sure if you had figured out your wiring, so I thought you could do some online searches to try to find another model number that matches the S490A and Z457, and maybe one of them would have a wiring diagram posted online.
