The other day I was visiting my local Sam's Club (Fayetteville, AR) and happened to notice that they were selling a black Miele S5 Power Nozzle canister. I didn't go down the aisle to see what they were asking for it or anything, as I was pressed for time, but found it strange to see such a high end brand in Sam's. I don't know if they're officially carrying them now, or given the proximity to the Home Office for Walmart and Sam's Club - they're just doing them on a test run. I know they sell the Miele's in select European stores. Anyone here in the US seen any of these Miele's in their Sam's Club? Next time I go I'll get pictures and pricing info.

I am sure the local Miele dealer will not be thrilled about this-Many years ago the Sams club in my area was carrying metal Royal commercial uprights under the "Dirt Devil" name-the local Royal dealer was VERY upset-becuase of that-he dropped carrying Royal.that was before TTI took them over.I think premium quality vac makers such as Royal and Miele should think about this carefully. Its a bad idea to upset your local dealerships!

True - and for most people who are in the market for a premium vacuum cleaner, they're not going to go to Sam's Club - they're going to go to the local dealer. The Oreck dealership here is franchised and also carries a range of Miele vacuum cleaners.

sounds like Miele has too much inventory and needs to do some liquidation. I haven't seen them at my sam's club. Costco liquidated some vacuums for Miele on their web site about 6 months or so ago. It was a short term sale with a fixed number of vacuums that lasted about a month or less. I'm sure Miele is envious of the success that Dyson has had selling $400+ vacuums in big box stores.
