Drove 50 minutes to London dentist today for the quarterly root planing torture. Naturally I rewarded my Brave L'l Soldier behaviour by hitting all the Thrift type stores. Since a major snowaquall storm was already rolling in could only vsit Sally Ann and Value Village this time. Drove home slowly following trucks through whiteouts but at least got home before sunset.
Among other treasures to post later, I found this Panasonic Jet-Flow 190 complete with solid powerhose, a 14" wide edgecleaning power nozzle and all the tools under the hood. Plugged it in holding down the bag interlock and it ran fine.
I became enamoured of the apparent build quality and the nifty 360 degree rotating powerhose socket. The inner socket has sliprings that transfer the power to the plug-in hose blades. It has no rotational stops - it spins around and around. Also impressed with the cord tension spring arrangemnet on the power nozzle and power plug cord protector at the wand handle end.
There was no bag inside nor any indication of what type it takes but I'm sure I'll figure that out quickly. I took the power nozzle apart for the spa treatment and again was impressed with the internals, filters and air channeling.
So here come a whack of pictures of this bottom of the line entry level 1990s (?) Panasonic. I say this because the powerhead is missing a nameplate plug that covers the two holes in the upper casing that seem made to take indicator lights. Also clear indications that the tol power nozzle has a lense bezel and two bulb sockets. The vacuum body has indications of plugs in place where a tol model may have had a two speed motor?
Bearing in mind it hasn't been cleaned up yet, it's darn clean. Not bad for $9.99.
There was a burgundy Hoover the same size & type but the tool lid was missing and the hose was taped, so it stayed behind.
