I spoke with mikes sister a while ago mike died at the end of. October he had a form of Lou Gehrig s disease mike was a very private person and although I new he had some health issues I had no clue it was so serious. A. Very sad ending to a wonderful giving and kind friend

Mike Rogers...........

For some of us that have been involved with the VCCC and Vacuumland for 20 years or more, Mike Rogers was somewhat legendary. A long time member of the VCCC and former board member, Mike was one of the most knowledgeable members we had.

He had been involved in the vacuum industry for years as Hans mentioned. He was a, "guru", when it came to Royals and Filter Queens. He was such an eloquent speaker that we asked him to conduct repair clinics at several conventions. He would enthrall the members with the way he spoke and the way he explained how motors worked in different vacuums. At times he was mesmerizing.

Mike was a mentor and role model to new and young members. His willingness to share and help people find vacuums and parts was wonderful. He gave of his time, his knowledge and parts from his vacuum business. He opened his store to vacuum collectors regularly. He contributed to the VCCC newsletter, if not in articles, in information that we used. He was consulted on convention protocol, agendas and procedure. He was a judge in vacuum categories for years because of his ability and knowledge.

In my early years in the club he was a sage advisor and a good friend. After he became ill, he became somewhat of a recluse and hard to contact. I think his personal pride had something to do with that.

Farewell Mike, and thank from the bottom of my heart for all the kindness not only you bestowed upon me and the club, but to all our members as well. For those that did not know him, you missed somebody special. Godspeed friend..........

So Sorry To Hear This

I had the pleasure of meeting Mike at the Canton Convention in 2008. He was extremely knowledgeable and held a Filter Queen repair seminar there. My heartfelt condolences to his family and friends, and may he rest in peace.

Mike was a kind gentleman, and so knowledgeable. I always enjoyed his company and his clinics. There were a couple of times I had the need to call him about something, and he always dropped what he was doing and came to the phone to help me out.

I learned a LOT from him in the short time I knew him. I'm grateful for the conversations we had and have really missed seeing him at conventions.

I always looked forward to seeing the car pull up at conventions with 2 great kind people getting out and that was Brother Chris and Mike. I miss them both

Mike Rogers

Very sorry to hear this.I had talked with Mike at more than one convention and found him to know as much as anyone on all vac makes, models and years as well as being a great person. At the Ohio meeting he brought a vac I had not heard of or seen since.A full size 40s Kenmore upright that looked ordinary until turned over and then had a bristle strip in place of usual revolving brush!
Lou Gerigs disease--Our town has a well known and respected school principal in his 40s who has had this for about 2 years. It has sadly gone to the point of him not being able to work, then using wheelchair, hospital bed, etc.Very little that anyone can do with this.

My Sympathies

I ever met this man but seems he was quite knowledgeable about vacuums he will be iss my condoleance and sympathie ti all that knew him..
