So, I found out a couple weeks ago that my parents were getting a divorce. My mom is currently moving into a small one bedroom apartment (700 sq. ft.). She decided to take our Dyson DC07 Animal with her because she can't afford a new vacuum. This DC07 is 6.5 years old and still works perfectly.

I was initially reluctant, but then agreed shortly after.

Here are some pics. :(

I am so sorry to hear that

But it must have been a good reason for it (don't want to know, not my business) and I hope you will be able to cope with it. You can always go visit the vacuum and who knows another one will come along. I had one similar to that I gave to Habitat For Humanity unfortunately I gave them a bunch of my collection because I have no room since my move but I know they went to good homes so I have no regret. Take care & I wish you the best in this situation. Mark D.

I am so sorry, I ahd a DC07 from 2097 like 2 years gao for £15, just needed a filter wash and it had all the tools :) was a fantastic vacuum. eBay is quite good, you can get plenty of DC07 Animal's there

Ya know...

Why do I love vacuum cleaners? No idea -- It has been an off and on thing over the years. Once I was old enough to tolerate the noise of them, I have adored these wonderful machines that do the simple task of sucking dirt off of floors.

In the meantime, I've been using a Hoover Windtunnel 2 Rewind Pet at my house. I posted on here a few weeks ago that I had the dirt cup hinge break. Since then, I've given up emptying it from the bottom. I now twist the top off to empty it.

Here is the thread where I explained the dirt cup problem, including pics of it.

It's honestly up to you.

I find the DC65 to be an annoying vacuum to clean with that has mediocre suction, but if you're are used to a DC07's suction then you'll be fine with the DC65's.

I personally think a bagged machine would match requirements better, but if you are truly a Dyson lover, this advice will fall on deaf ears.

I will say that I am impressed with the DC65's hardfloor cleaning, but my Rainbow still beats it every time.

The DC65 moves fairly well, though the whole ball technology is not my cup of tea.

Go to Best Buy and try one out. If you fall in love with it, buy it.

The best advice I've heard is: "The best vacuum is the one the person will use."

There is no point for you to buy a Kirby if you aren't going to use it. If you will use a Dyson DC65, buy it.

A good example is my grandfather. He has a Hoover Z (show here http://www.lasplash.com/uploads//1/pair-_2__002.png ) and uses it every other day. When he had a Kirby Heritage, he was vacuuming maybe once a month.

EDIT:

Also, I dread the day someone asks me to clean the cyclones of a DC65. Talk about over-engineering.

I have a severe case of Dyson Hate so I might be a bit biased.

My Kenmore canister outcleans my DC07 after a full refurb so I don't know if I have a lemon or all DC07s are just crap.

Don't get me wrong...

My DC07 was actually a really good machine when I had it. I'm by no means a Dyson fanboy, but their machines are built tough and really do last a long time when properly taken care of.

OMG ...

... cut the guy a break.

Divorce, even for adult children, is traumatic.

I'm sure he's focused on that, but in the context of a VACUUM CLEANER forum, he wanted to share another frustration.

Best wishes to you, Nick.
