I just bought a Royal 2028 manufactured in the US in October of 2002. Does anyone know if later built (2003-2004) were made in China?

Mike,

Yes. Around January 2003, TTI moved production from Glenwillow, OH to Taiwan, and then by 2006 it moved again to mainland China.
