Hey everyone, I'm pretty excited about some new vacuums, and had to share. I just bought a Dirt Devil Broom Vac model 702 with the updated belt door. It came from a smokers home, but I'm nearly done reviving it. The foot pedal switch was non functional, so I just ordered another. I also got a brand new Dirt Devil Power Stick with an edge wedge. It's great, and perfect to add to my Dirt Devils. I just decided to also buy a cardboard cutout of Kenny Wallace on the Dirt Devil racing team holding a Dirt Devil Hand Vac and standing next to an Upright. Maybe I've gone a little overboard! Still loving my 5200, but I'm wishing I'd bought that commercial version. I'm also currently trying to win an auction on another Dirt Devil that'll be talked about once the auction ends. Pictures coming soon, though I've been busy.

Best regards, Garrett

Are you thinking of collecting the whole line of DD's? Someone here has a pretty wide assortment of them.Could be fun to collect as many different models as you can and in all the colors too, while they're still out there in decent numbers. I'd do it if I had the space, just sayin'. Billy

Whole line

Yes, that's what I'm going at. The original red Dirt Devils are more common than other colors so the odd colors are what I'm trying to collect. It'll take years and years to ever have every variation of the hand vac, but I think the broom vacs would be easier. I keep finding out about Dirt Devils every week. I just can't pay eBay prices for the Dirt Devils, that's my challenge. I have a huge mental list of Dirt Devils to get and learn about, maybe I should write it down. The way they clean doesn't really matter to me, but the mysteriousness and gaps of knowledge in the company is what interests me.

Thanks, Garrett

Pictures

Here are some pictures of my Dirt Devils. the auction I was trying to win was for a "Dawg Devil" Hand Vac. It's a great piece of history regarding the Dirt Devil Company. It'll arrive in a couple of weeks. If anyone has more info other than that Royal is based in Ohio, please share.

That Dawg Vac is amazing. Did they make other teams? Or was that just because they are from Cleveland? That has to be the holy grail right there.

The Dawg Devil was only made (I think) because Royal wanted to support their local team with their new plastic hand vacuum. I'm not very familiar with the dawg devil so I'll give more info once its here. It just shipped! My knowledge so far is that its from 1987.

Dawg Devil

The Dawg Devil is here, it's EXTREMELY fragile! Already broke a screw mount. That's what you get with early plastic I guess. I'll attach photos later, but at the moment I'm very satisfied with my purchase, especially only $30 for that thing!

Thanks, Garrett

That's why I never use a powered screwdriver or drill to unscrew vacs. I use a ratcheting screwdriver with a good fat rubber grip and gently unscrew it. I never tried it because they are so expensive but you can get miniture hobby plastic welders on Amazon and you should be able to repair the screw posts. https://www.amazon.com/Polyvance-5700HT-Airless-Plastic-Welder/dp/B00IEX6NME

I might have to try that! I always use a manual screwdriver on metal and plastic because both can be stripped, and have been. I'm just going to keep it in it's box and let it happily rest. If I turn it on, I fear the jolt of the motor powering on will shatter the inner housing. I have no need to run it though, I've got a later model 2 speed version.
