I have a Royal tank just like the one pictured-and a couple others.Truely GREAT machines-about the most powerful canister out there-but a disadvantge of these machines-their jet engine like exhaust!it can blow stuff around in the room-or dust that you haven't picked up.and YOU MUST use the yellow multilayer bags in these machines--the single layer bags the powerful suction of these vacs pulls the dust RIGHT THROUGH the bag!But these vacuums are FAR BETTER than the "Frozen Turkey" plastic canisters made by TTI Royal today. One vac shop I bought one of these machines from says the motor is the same as used in some central vacs. Now if an exhaust-diffuser can be made for these-than PERFECT!Another person I knew of used one the these in her home cleaning service.Long Live the ROYAL TORPEDO vacuum!

Tolivac:

I hear you on the jet engine like exhaust. I have a Metropolitan Professional compact series, and it too has the jet engine exhaust. It's lightweight and very portable, and its all metal construction is a bonus as compared to the plastic crap that everyone uses today. But, as you say, if it's pointed at the coffee table, anything that's on top gets blown off.

Jet Engine Exhaust

It's fun to point the vacuum at kittys to see their reaction! ;-)

I would think the jet blast from the Royal would send the cat airborne! As I pointed out its too bad Royal discontinued these machines and they didn't make an exhaust "diffuser for them.the exhaust is the blower port-you can put the hose on it and have the ULTIMATE dry filtered air blower-better than an air compressor for blowing things. One vac dealer I knew of used the Royal "Torpedo" as a blower to dry Electrolux fans and fan housings after washing them.Spent many afternoons helping him.
