My Royal 895's lower hook is cracked and overly flexible. I'm afraid it's going to fall off.
I see the part# is 1-256316-000, but it looks riveted to the handle.

Is the hook or whole handle (2-088033-000) available anywhere?

I'm open to any suggestions managing this.

Stan,

The correct part number for the lower cord hook was part no. 1259316000. The problem is, it's bound to the lower handle tube with two rivets (1008241000).

I did in fact find a complete handle assembly with the pigtail-style cord included (2088032200) on eBay, but the trim will be blue instead of red. That said it's only $35 and shipping is free!

Thanks. I didn't even consider getting something used from eBay. I don't mind the one you linked being blue, but I'm not a fan with how rusty that looks. There are a few other options I'm looking into there though.

Stan,

Here is another complete handle, adapter and cord assembly, only this time it's in the correct trim color specific to your cleaner.

This one is being sold by one of our forum members.

How would $45 plus $9 for shipping sound to you?

Sorry I hadn't responded. Had trouble logging in for a while.

Anyway, thanks. Went for it. Everything else about this vacuum was in great condition and the handle already had issues from a poor repair store's work.

A fully nice looking handle was worth it.

Stan,

Glad to hear back from you, and awesome you went ahead and bought it!

Sorry to hear about the slip-up from the vac shop that last tried to repair it.

The goo thing about Royal is that it seems they standardized their parts and then just never changed it. So you can find a huge wealth of spare parts to repair your vacuum if one isn't concerned with replicating a museum piece. I have one of their earlier 1920s or 1910's models, and it had no bag. I bought a bag for a late 1980's model Royal as a temporary part, and wouldn't you know it fit perfectly!

Your early Royal would have to have been made after 1928, because that was the year they changed the bag coupling, moved it from one side of the fan case to the other, and changed the rotation of the motor and fan. If it was made before 1928, a modern bag would not fit. Here's a picture of a Royal built in 1926 and a close-up of the fan case to illustrate what I mean. It does look much better now than when the pics were taken, but I still have much work to do on it.
