Royal 8600 "skipping"

Heyo, first post.

Snagged a Royal 8600 for what I hope was a decent price lol (60$). Really clean. But the brush seems too stiff or too big. Not entirely sure if its the right one. I was expecting a wooden brush. When I lower the unit enough to create a suction it skips as I push it.

I'm looking at getting a Sanitronic 80 this week off cl but I do like this Royal for the main work. I do think it needs a new belt since sometimes the brush does stop spinning. Thanks for your input!

I meant 8200... I was staring at an Atari 2600 while typing that lol. Obviously there is no 8600 and free members can't edit or delete posts :/

I'm looking online for a new roller. Anyone have a resource for wooden rollers like original?

here's a snap of the roller it has. the number stamped on it does seem to imply it works with the 8200 but, it doesn't seem to fit well and may be too stiff for my type of carpeting. I want a new brush anyways so any input on where to find a proper, softer one, would be awesome.

Have you checked the brusroll height adjustment by making sure the brushroll end-caps are set for the brushroll to be at it's maximum height?


 


This adjustment is often overlooked whenever the brushroll has been removed from the floor nozzle and then re-inserted. The position of the end-caps is very important to how your machine performs when in use.


 


The brushroll should be set to it's maximum height when the brushroll is new. After the brushes wear down somewhat, then it is time to set the end-caps to low height to compensate for worn brushes.


 


Oh, and FYI, ALL Royal brushrolls are made of Wood. The Royal factory likes to paint their brushrolls Silver to simulate a metal brushrool. If you look closely at your brushroll, you will see that it is made of wood. Most new brushrolls are not painted, so they show off their natural wood beauty.


 


Before buying a new brushroll, try removing it and re-installing it exactly like the guy in this video:
