Today I was using my Royal 501 hand vac when all of a sudden I started to hear squeaking and something rattling around. At first I thought it was the motor but it turns out it was the brushroll. I oiled the bearing that was causing the trouble, but it is still incredibly unbalanced and still makes a lot of noise. Does anyone know where I could get a new brushroll or a bearing? I would prefer not to get a new brushroll because it is still good and the bristles are barely worn down, it is just the bearing that is the issue.

If you remove the brushroll, you should be able to remove both endcaps by pulling.

Hold the brushroll in one hand and use a pair of pliers to grip the endcap. Pull until the endcap is removed. There should be a shaft pressed into the endcap. Remove the plastic washer and put a few drops of blue 3in1 oil on there and rotate until the oil saturates the bearing. Repeat the process for the other side and it should lessen the noise.

When you reinstall the brushroll, don't forget to align the arrows on the brushroll and the bottom plate. Let me know if you need any more assistance.

If the bearings are worn to the point of play in the race and wobbling all over the place no amount of oil will help. Would need to repair with new bearings or replace.
