FH51000 is an upright model, the tag suggests 2016 vintage but looking around online shows them being made earlier than this.
I like to play around with deserving vacuum cleaners and carpet machines. This FH51000 came my way for not much money, it powered on okay and had brush roll action. When I got it home, it tested it dynamically with liquid, that works along with proper suction. So it seemed worthy of going ahead on it. Next step, cleaning it up; the bottom end was typically caked with carpet fiber and dried solution. When I got all that done, I noticed that it looked like there were two rollers missing from the bottom plate.
Next, I went online to see what parts should fill these voids. One of the empty cavities is semi-circular, obviously meant for a roller held in place by a simple metal axle that snaps into place. On the other side, the cavity is much more shallow. This is the side where the belt operates, so I assume that the engineers decided there wasn't room for a full roller. I can only suppose a skid or similar fits in this cavity, which has the same attachment method for a metal axle.
My online search revealed a couple of things. (1) There was never comprehensive repair parts support for these machines. Only basic assemblies show on a "parts list." (2) The operator's manual is typical of many Chinese made products in that information in it is very scant, and pictures are small and nearly useless.
I looked at various used parts for sale on ebay; where the bottom plate is shown, the roller
/skid are missing.
But now I'm wondering. How important are these parts to operation? I don't think they completely fulfil depth penetration of carpet. Because the lip on the nozzle does that. The nozzle prevents undue aggression into the carpet by the brushes. Maybe the rollers were just for extra support so the lip of the nozzle doesn't get stressed. I'd still like to get the roller / skid (and axles) to make a complete machine.
It's a sad state of affairs that Hoover and society in general manufacture products for which repair service is never envisioned.
