Riccar 8850 Find!

I visited my favorite thrift store yesterday and picked up this Riccar 8850 for $16.00! Its in pretty good condition for it's age and seems to sound fine, but it is going to need a new belt and bag. It's also missing all of the attachments except for the dusting brush....Next weekend I'll head over to the vacuum store and pick up a new belt and package of bags. All in all I think I did good on this find!

Can't argue with that! Durable, well-performing, and quite maintainable. They may be often imitated, but the Riccar clean-air uprights are still some of the best in their class.

Man... I wish I bought the 8850 I saw at the thrift store for $7 a month ago.

Oh well. I'm impressed with the 8850's. Great vacuums in a compact size. I hope you enjoy yours!

How does 8850 compare to the Riccar 8955 motor?

My simplicity 7350 needs a handle & WHEEL PLASTIC BRACKET IS BROKEN & OOOPS
rubber inside compartment plastic strips are broken so had to glue that in.

Well its not too good in form but motor runs great.

Would I be able to fit a R8850 handle on a simplicity 7350? I hate the shody plastic & don;t want to spend on a handle as the machine is not sound in the wheel.

The 8955 motor is bigger and it's more powerful than the motor on the 8850 or the 7350. And yes you can swap handles between the two, it'll fit.

two stage motor

I think this machine uses a two stage motor unless I'm getting it mixed up with another model, if it's the one I think it is, it has a great sound to it, almost sounds like a canister. Sounds like you got a great deal, enjoy.

Was thinking about a 8850 for parts but if motor is better than simplicity 7350 I really don't want to spend $ on fixing the S 7350.

I have a great R 8955 but I use it in the bedroom.

I use the simplicity with a taped handle in the other rooms as I have a bird & don;t want dust to gather on the riccar so when I vac bedroom it s pretty clean.

Just thinking now as I'm still having chemp treatments & washing a dirty germy vacuum is a NO NO~!

I do think the R 8850 i similar to the R8955...just says they added some improvements but not sure if a new motor was one of them...

Simplicity 7350 has dual fans not motors...lol Probably Riccar 8955 has the same.

Not sure of the Riccar 8850.???

The Riccar 8850 and the Simplicity 7350 both used the same Ametek twin fan motor because they are both sister machines. The 8850 and the 7350 were both older machines from Tacony, but they later came out with their newer versions such as the 8955 and the 7850 with a few improvements such as rubber wheels, the stretch hose, the motor, the filtration, and the warranty.

Just parting out a Riccar 8850 which was probably a mistake.

I tore it down and the Vacuum Motor is an Ametek 117406-00. I tried to determine if it's a single-stage or dual stage motor? I googled 117406-00 and came up empty. Trying to see which models it fits so I can list it somewhere.
