So does Riccar actually make any of their vacuums or are they all licensed copies which this one looks to be. They have another don't they that looks like an Oreck?

The Riccar canisters are now going to be made in the US factory-before they were made by Daewoo out of China or Korea.I have an 1800 canister that was built in Korea. Its a very nice vacuum. The motor is VERY powerful-reads highest on a suction guage-110+in!

looking for parts

I came here through Google. I recently purchased a Riccar 1950 vacuum at a thrift store, but I need to get a belt and bags for it. Where can I find some that aren't super expensive. The one's I can find only list more current models. Which would be compatible?

It appears to be in good shape, but it had no belt.

Local vac shop should have what you're looking for

Otherwise ebay would do the trick! I would get a genuine Riccar belt. The new belts for their clean-air models (Vibrance) will fit this. This machine takes Riccar Type A bags. Panasonic U-3 bags will fit this machine, but the genuine Riccar HEPA bags are SO NICE. I would check the filter at the bottom of the bag compartment as well. They tend to go neglected, and get musty with age (if it's a sponge-type filter, it can be gently washed). As long as the motor sounds good it'll be worth tuning-up. They're a joy to use!
