Anyone have experience with one of these machines?

I have been looking at the Gold model. I like the following features:
(1) metal bottom plate
(2) metal beater bar with replaceable brushes
(3) metal handle release
(4) metal cord hook
(5) metal handle
(6) extra long power cord
(7) charcoal pre filter and heap after filter
(8) lifetime belt system
(9) curved hose handle with expandable hose and metal wand
(10)easy release bottom plate
(11) horsehair dusting brush
(12) 2 motor system
(13) long warranty
(14) Assembled in America
(15) nice light bar
(16) under the thumb off/on switches for each motor
(17) 6 rubber covered wheel system
918) low attachment of the suction hose so machine will not tip as easy
They look like they really out clean the some of the competition like the Dyson uprights on the you tubes and really vibrate the carpets.
It makes my Hoover Anniversary upright and Dyson uprights look so cheap and such poor build quality when I looked at them side by side.

The downside that I can see is of course it is rather expensive unit and you would have the expense of the replaceable bags. They do seen to be a bit loud but on one you tube they talk about how the 2 motor system has lower pitch to the motors. We do have several dealers in our area and service should not be a problem.
I do love the beautiful gold finish.
Does anyone own one of these Ricarr's and how do they perform?

I have been favorably impressed by every Riccar/Simplicity vacuum I've ever used, canister or upright. I'm honestly not sure if the tandem-air system is as good in practice as it sounds in theory, but a 5-amp direct-air motor was more than enough for Royals and Kirbys to turn in world-beating performance. I see no reason why it would be any different here, and the secondary clean-air motor can only help.

I own a Simplicity 6970, which is very similar to the Riccar Vibrance, and it seems to do a bang-up job on carpets. The build quality is very high, too - which I can say of every other Riccar/Simplicity machine I've looked at or used.

As for carpet cleaning performance, Tacony's own tests say they do better than the Kirby Sentria. Kirby fans would probably disagree, but I'd say it's a close contest. If you need peak carpet-cleaning ability, Riccar/Simplicity is bound to get mentioned alongside old standbys like Royal, Kirby and Sanitaire, and rightly so.

I will agree with that.

I did some performance testing with a few of my high end uprights the Kirby and sanitaire took the top spots. I feel that there is no beating a direct air machine when it comes to the deep cleaning of carpets, both of the tacony uprights still did very well and that simplicity 7 is probably my most powerful bypass upright. I'm really looking forward to the dual stage motor returning to the vibrance/symmetry series.

Tom, I'm curious as to why he shouldn't 'waste' his money?

To the OP Rob, as far as modern vacuums go, there is no better cleaning upright and better value for dollar spent than a Tacony Tandem Air product, regardless if it is Simplicity Synergy/Synchrony, Riccar Radiance/Brilliance or Maytag M1200.

I will say right now, If you can find a local dealer that sells the Maytag vacuums that just came out, the M1200 will be the best value until the new tandem MV lineup comes out. It has the longer hose, the longer cord, the same warranty, it just doesn't have the VIP/Redcarpet porgrams.

Rob has been my friend for well over a decade and a half. If he really wants a Riccar Brilliance, I will give him mine. Rob gave me some extremely rare pieces for my Guardian Service cookware collection, and I want to repay the favor. I agree the Tandem Air cleans brilliantly.

Just making sure I wasn't missing anything. You should let him get a hold of a M1200... We got ours in, those are amazing machines!

I got what you were telling me. I had forgotten our adventures into "cookware".
I am still using that Guardian Service. I just bought some Health Craft this year. Good tuff but I prefer the old Guardian Service.
I baked a banana cake "on top of the stove" in my Guardian Service last week end.
I think we had a LOT of fun back in the days when everyone just TRADED vintage vacs. Long before we had ebay and people could "buy" their collections. The hunt was half the fun. It seems like the going rate was about $15.00 when we sold them to each other but it was mostly about trading among ourselves.
I still have the Rexair B you had rebuilt and gave me.
Remember that time you brought a pristine Electrolux to enter into the convention cleaning contest and I BROKE the plastic 0ff/0n switch!

We did have a lot of fun. We actually had VCCC By-laws (no alcohol at the meetings, no children unaccompanied by parents, every dime taken in was spent on mailing and printing newsletters, etc.) One of the 'unwritten' rules was the $15 max on a vac sale during the convention. The conventions were about sharing information and machines. Not about "look what I got and you don't", or "Look what I got on eBay". Those were the old days and this is now. If you long for the 'old days' conventions, come to the Convention we have at the Museum every June. I remember the Electrolux - I laughed my rear end off over that one. Had a new switch at home and just replaced it once I got there.

I have All-Clad for daily cooking, but use my Guardian Service in the summer when it's hot. The secret to Guardian Service was the tri-pans, and the fact you could cook three different foods, over low heat, on ONE burner. Best cookware ever invented, but it was a pain to keep the aluminum shined up. I've baked many pies on top of my stove in the Dutch Oven you gave me.
