Restoring Electrolux model 30

Model XXX: Mother's Mag and Aluminum polish for the front cover. Brillo pad for the chrome. The vinyl is old, so use rubbing alcohol on a rag to clean it. Armor All to polish the vinyl after cleaning.

Model 1205: Lacquer thinner to clean the vinyl (do NOT use it on hard plastic or paint) - removes dirt and marks like magic. Rubbing alcohol on a rag for the plastic. Mother's Mag and Aluminum polish for the top trim. I use a Sharpe marker to restore the color to the lettering on the side trim.

I too use and love both Mother's and Never Dull. A Magic Eraser also works very well on vinyl, plastic, metal, chromed and painted surfaces to remove surface dirt. Do be careful on painted surfaces as you can remove the paint pretty quickly if you press too hard.

Mothers, never dull, and magic eraser.....

All work wonderfully! I utilized all three on the model 30 I restored a few years ago. Another metal polish I've had amazing success with is Maas. I used it on a customers 1205 and was thoroughly impressed with the results! I do hope you can post photos of your progress and the finished product!

Removing marks

One thing I have found that effectively removes marks without damaging plastic is aerosol hairspray. However, it's important to note that it MUST be aerosol hairspray....the stuff sold in pump spray bottles doesn't work on removing marks. So it must be a chemical that's added to the hairspray or a propellant in the aerosol that makes it work to remove marks. Hairspray will also not mar plastic at all, completely harmless.
