I just got my Kirby Dual Sanitronic 50 back. Dave Bryan did an absolutely amazing job at making it look good as new. I am so grateful to Dave for his obvious labor of love for these amazing machines!

I have attached a few pictures of this machine that is about to turn 50 years old very shortly that is still running strong. The last two pictures show it next to my Sentria II, which looks like quite the broomhilda next to the svelte DS50!

Restoration recommendation?

Wow your DS50 looks amazing! I'm new here and I have a DS50 and a 561 the only vacuums left of my former collection and are my "daily drivers". Can anyone recommend a good person to refresh mine to keep them running and looking great in the New York area (I'm in the 'burbs above NYC) I'd like to keep 'em running for another 50 years and shined up would be nice too!

Yeah, you said that already... you could have gotten it and given it to one of the Lesser Collectors who like Kirbys....... "I'm just sayin.'"

I had messaged you about it on your personal email back on 26 Aug . Does she still want to rehome it? I"ll gladly take the ride out when I'm in the area. Let me know, 973-941-3285.

For someone to decline a free vintage vacuum cleaner just because they didn't like that particular brand it is one thing. But to then gloat about having turned it down in a forum where there are many people who would have loved to have had the machine seems a bit mean-spirited to me.

And, Charles,

I appreciate that. Yes, it was totally misconstrued. It happens. People speak before thinking about it thoroughly sometimes. I accept your apology. I may even try to still retrieve that machine... for Matty. It really is a shame that people don't really get to know someone for who they really are . Isn't that true?

There are 3 other Kirby(s) in my basement, waiting for a new home. There's a Compact, Westinghouse, Oreck, Electrolux polisher down there. Again, NOT gloating..... remember that.
Gloating, or bragging, is a whole other thing. Don't we all know those such people? They must 'impress' (or try ) others with acquired goods. I , like so many others work very hard for the things I have. I enjoy sharing them. People love to enjoy my "house of HOOVER". That brings me much happiness. Others have said, 'It's a beautiful house: the HOOVERs are fun.... but, I really came here to see YOU". To quote Blanche Hudson, "How kind people are". Enjoy the rest of you weekend, Charles.

John,

I know how much you hate to be reminded (pestered??) to ship something out... therefore I refrained from asking you to immediately procure said Kirby D50 and deliver it to the hands of the nearest UPS store where it would be lovingly (okay... not lovingly, maybe not even professionally) packed and dispatched via ground (I am basically cheap) on my account.
