I have a couple 1970's mixmasters, took one apart today for fun. The governor capacitor has a lot of green corrosion on the ends. Does this mean it is shot? I just want to make sure before I get rid of it and buy a "new" one. Please forgive my ignorance!

You could buff off the contacts with some sandpaper and then check it with a multitester to see whether it's in spec but my guess is it's probably bad. You should probably also clean the contacts inside the mixer as well.

Another very silly question, but can I use lemon or lime juice to clean the resistor? I've used it to clean contacts and it seems to work really well.
