Replacing A Dead Bissell

VacuumLand – Vintage & Modern Vacuum Enthusiasts

Help Support VacuumLand:

Rob Gwisdala, I posted that Hyla because I searched Arkansas Craigsist, the state where his profile is based and that was the only vac I liked currently for sale.

Have you used or tried any of these Orecks that you're posting to make you post links that are direct to Oreck website??

I bit the bullet and bought the Oreck Graphite Powerteam. I really liked it much better than anything else I looked at, canister or upright. I'll be sure to let you guys know how it works out. I appreciate the help and information a whole lot.

Oh Tyler!!!!! Be careful with those, they make the surface look great but deep cleaning on Oreck isn't very good!!! I hope you like. I'd use it a lot in the beginning and really try it before its too late to return.

Did you try any Riccars, Simplicitys or Mieles in store???

ROB GWISDALA??????

Now you are really contradicting yourself!!! You posted a link for the vacuum that Tyler got. Posting a link the way you did, is taken by one of us other members as a personal recommendation. If you don't personally recommend something then don't post a link or at least write something more in your description along the reasoning of "here is a link to this vac, but beware of A, B, C, & D which I myself or other users have left experienced!"

I posted information above about vacuums that I either:
1) own personally
2) I don't own but one of my clients does and I have experience with it
3) I've tried and used extensively at another collectors house or vacuum sale shop and spoke with sales reps and collectors about they like the performance of that machine, its overall performance compared to other machines and success rate of repair or returns with it.
OR
4. I've spoken to Vacuum Shop dealers regarding a certain model along with customer service from manufacturer and based on that info I did not purchase the machine for self or client for A, B, C, and D reasons!!

Recommendation

Hi Tyler. For your needs: not vacuuming every day, medium to low pile... I wouldn't recommend a new Kirby. Kirby's are fantastic, don't get me wrong, but a new one at around $1500 is a lot of money for something you're only going to use weekly. If you don't mind the weight of it, which is substantial, a used Kirby would be a great option and they can be found in many vac shops for $100 to $600 or so based on the model, age, and condition. I was at a local vac shop today and he was selling a beautiful Sentria with all accessories and the shampoo kit for $399. That's a good deal. As for the Riccar, I have been very impressed with their performance. They work the carpet really well and have great filtration. Also, with a steel brush roll, you'll never be replacing it. Another couple things about Riccar: 1: Their still made in America, believe it or not. 2:Underneath, they are just re-badged Simplicity's, so if you like the Riccar but don't want to spend the bucks, check out the Simplicity range and you can probably save a few. As for the Oreck, I don't know that I would recommend them for anything above a very short pile like you would find in a restaurant or a hotel. Also, they go through belts like mad. Steer clear of the Oreck Pilot, too, just an awful awful machine. If you're gonna go Oreck, I would check out the new Magnesium. I have heard good things, but don't know from experience. Also, the XL is always a great choice if weight is the enemy. As a wildcard, check out the Miele S7210 Twist. Great power, quiet, and fantastic filtration. I see them on special for $399 NIB. Thanks.
