I would like to find a person to rebuild/refurbish a 1963 Electrolux model G.
It belonged to my Grandmother and I would like to use it again, instead of buying Kenmore canister's ever other year.
It sounds like it can't breath well anymore.
Thank you for any reference or help.

To unclog a hose Electrolux® Corporation (now Aerus LLC) suggested attaching it to the exhaust port and inserting the open end into the suction port. If that doesn't work then dislodge or loosen the debris with a dowel and repeat.

You will likely need a new hose anyway if it is a braided one. The newer version that Aerus makes is vinyl. Cheaper aftermarket versions (in terms of cost and quality) are also available. Leaking hoses diminish the suction level. Braided hoses, though, may be resealed using a product called Rubber Dip Spray® by Plasti Dip International--it's just more time consuming. Do a Vacuumland search using that term and 'hose repair' to locate a thread with detailed instructions.

Another item to check for blockage would be the power nozzle's head and wand. Check to see if your brush roll needs replacing, as well.

Yes, a full or nearly full bag or one containing fine dust or powder would also diminish your cleaner's air flow. Be sure to use genuine Home™ Solutions bags available online from Aerus LLC or from an Aerus franchise (or if your grandmother has genuine Electrolux®, Germ Grabber™, or Sure Thing™ bags they would be fine, too. All others are cheaper imitations which are more prone to leaking and even bursting).

Cleaning a motor's dust- or dirt-laden fans is another way to improve your cleaner's performance.

It's great that you will be keeping your grandmother's vacuum cleaner and using it. The Model G is one of Aerus's best all-time machines. Best wishes in restoring its performance.

Thank you for the information. The hose is not clogged, it's leaking very badly below the connections on each end. I have already ordered a new hose.
The motor sounds like it is on it's last leg, although the model G still has a good suction to it. I am not comfortable putting in a new motor.
Have been talking to Jeff Rego at Vacuum Service Center about fixing it back up for me. I e-mailed a number of people or business's listed on Google for help and was NOT happy with some of the response's, one of which was just very rude. I think it was from one of the first listing's on Google, Electroluxman or something such as that. VERY rude person, am not sure how he stay's in business.
Thank you for all of the suggestion's and help.

Jeff rebuilt my Grandmother's Model L for me several years ago and did an excellent job.  It came back running and looking like brand new.

If your not in a hurry and if you want to ship it to NY, I will repair it for you. I have been in the floor care business for over 3o years, unfortunately I closed my vacuum store 5 years ago and now work for Whirlpool home appliances, I still do vacuum repairs in my free time, I can make your Model G run like new or if you want it suped up, I can put a high perfomance Lamb motor in it and it will out power any vacuum on the market today.

I would recommend you contact John Anderson / tig21er here on Vacuumland. I just consulted with him over the holidays as my Electrolux Grand Marquise was having some issues, & he was VERY helpful! Also, it was very clear this man was willing to actually help his customers repair their existing vacuums, not just sell them a new Aerus....to see that these days is refreshing! I am sure if you sent your Electrolux Model G to John, he would do a first-rate job refurbishing it for you.

Model G Power Nozzle connector under canister hose

I recently came into the possesion of my parent's Model G, with the power nozzle power connector in the front, under the canister hose opening. So I think it's a 1964? The cable that plugs into it is loose, the connector under the hose looks pretty used. Has anyone replaced the pins inside or have a solution to repair this connector?

Thanks.

Electroluxman...

One guy who might be of use and does great work is Electroluxman at www.theelectroluxman.com. I contacted him about purchasing a Refurbished G about a month ago. However, through the email exchange he was very trite and arrogant. Rather off-putting manner and sarcastic. But, according to his website he does good work. If you contact him, proceed with caution.

Here are the different versions of the Model G and their production years:

Aqua - front pigtail cord receptacle: 1960-1962
Aqua - side pigtail cord receptacle: 1962-1966
Golden ("GG") - front or side pigtail cord receptacle (Salesman Award): 1960-1966
Tan - side pigtail cord receptacle, more powerful motor: 1966-1968

Ivory - The Model GHs (with a muffler and optional longer hose w/cord); teal trimmed: 1962-1966; brown trimmed: 1966-68

Hammertone Gray - refurbished: circa 1980s

I have never heard of replacing the pigtails, but after-market cords are available online or gently-used ones might be found at your local vacuum cleaner store in its trade-in pile or from online sellers.

Best wishes in your endeavor!

Hello,
I am desperately seeking some replacement parts for a turquoise model G Electrolux. I need two new back wheels, one chrome wheel cover and the louvered blower cover. I am not able to locate any of these items in the original color. Do you know of any place that still sells these items?

Thank you
