Well this is kind of crazy but I found two basically new Electrikbrooms at two different thrifts in a 4 day period. Thought I'd share them. My grandma used to have one similar in color to the tan one.

Ohhh, I love the bamboo pattern on the second one! Its kinda weird that these machines were virtually unused after all this time. Sure is a pretty lucky find!

The first one may be very rare. I have never seen an Electrikbroom with that kind of switch on the nozzle! The nozzle is usually plain, or it would have Regina's famous "Rug Pile Dial". Can't read what the black slider switch on the nozzle says, though. Is it "Power Control"?

Congratz! I love these things, they are so much fun to use. I found 2 over the years new in box too a few years ago. I wonder if several stores just had left over stock?
I'd like to see a close up of that control on the nozzle. I've never seen that and I have about 30 different models.

The bamboo one has never been out of the box, it's still stapled on one side and someone opened the box and it ripped in the middle.
The one with the weird nozzle it looks like someone just briefly tested it in the store so there is little dust in it either (that particular thrift store always tests this type stuff even if it's new).
I seem to recall there were three in our family I think all at my grandma's, she had a bamboo pattern one like this, a white one with a blue bag that had like oriental village designs and later a Powerteam one. I seem to recall the blue one breaking and having a standard dial type nozzle, but I'm pretty sure the bamboo typemoje had the same type of nozzle as the picture here but the switch was red.
One of these boxes had the address of where it was purchased stamped on the end but the place is long gone, there is a sort of industrial park where it was and the address is now of some fastener and pipe fitting manufacturer there. My friend who was with me on the thrift trip lives closer to that area and he had no clue about any appliance retailer there either so it has to have been gone for quite a while.

The slider settings are for "Rugs" or "Bare Floors" - which probably means that the switch sets the row of bristles to "float" for rugs, or stay down for bare floors. Kind of a bit of exaggeration to label this as "Power Control" - no?

It's actually a suction control. Bare floors is full suction, on rugs it diverts some air there is no stop so you can position it in the middle and have half suction, so it really is a power control.
The bristles behind the suction opening on the bottom float on two springs. There is a grey switch in the back that allows you to detach the nozzle from the swivel neck, I don't remember these well enough to know if they typically had that.
Serial number is 440

Regina's downfall
Was just looking at the shady dealings that lead to Regin's demise. The electrikbroom was a proven design and I think outside the shady dealings they could still spbe selling these now in the original state with merely updated cosmetics.

Thank you for that information, Erik. Very interesting! Yet, I can't believe that the suction was powerful enough to require a reduction in suction for use on carpets. But the feature must have been quite short-lived as so few of us cleanerphiles have ever seen it before. Thanks for posting and sharing!

Its not everyday one finds two virtually new in the box Regina brooms these days and from the 1970's even. What is even more astonishing is finding one with the ultra rare "power control" nozzle. In my entire collection of well over 200 of these things I literally only have one with this nozzle on a 1970 gray one speed model. Note that this nozzle shows up in the mid to later 1970's Regina pamphlets as an available option.
As for these two brooms, the orange one is pretty rare with the Harvest gold unit being more common during that time era. Also note that the bamboo bag style lasted right into the early 1980's. Both of these machines ironically are from 1974 from a middle of the year production run and are close to being the last of the really good ones. Note that there is still a strain relief on the cord coming out of the switch, a white rubber lower bag retainer covering the band, full metal motor housing, fan housing and upper dirt cup section. Even the floor nozzle on the harvest gold should have a metal bottom plate and a real felt upper brush. The economy nozzle with "power control" used a short brush strip and a plastic bottom. This was right around the time when the cord length went from 18' to 16' in the first wave of cheapening that occurred during the 70's. The orange broom has the 16' cord but the harvest gold one may still have 18' based on it's slightly older production date. These still had good motors in them too with ball bearings on the fan end and are very easy to change out if necessary. I'll bet these two examples run really nice! Best of luck with them.

A year or so back, someone was interested in them but I had so much going on here, that I forgot and misplaced the person's contact information.
