So True! One of my Aunts had a Filter Queen for well over 50 years, and it was still going strong when she passed. We used it to clean out her house when she died last year.
Dont know the model number, but it was one of those pinkish/salmon colored ones from the late 50s. Had a VERY quiet and powerful motor.
I know she had to have the cord replaced once, and a new hose a couple of times,,,the rubber gaskets on the wands were crumbling and starting to split, but other than that, it still had all of its original attachments in A1 condition, and the hassock thing she kept it in,,,she was still using it regularly.
She had a Kirby D80 also, but not any of the attachments. She used the Kirby for the carpets, and the FQ for all above the floor cleaning.
Ha, That Kirby is still going strong to this very day too.
I took that FQ motor screen off, to inspect the motor and change the upper filter,,,the filter was a little dirty, not much,,,and the motor was as clean as the day it was manufactured. Not even a slight layer of powdery dust,,totally clean.
I know for a fact that FQ had heavy use in its days,,Auntie was a clean freak! She always used the Genuine Filter Cones,so i think that may have something to do with it too.
There definatly is something to be said about the good ol days,,,they dont make em like they used to!
