Really nice Hoover model 28

It really does look good. I am not the seller. If I were in the market for a model 28, I'd snap this up. I can not post a picture, but heres the link.

hooversrus, what did you do to the Hoover 28? It looks too good. The housing (Bakelight?) is as shiny as you will find. You had to re-paint, right?

What did you do to the motor (carbon brushes and ...)

Yes all repainted, scratches taken out hood. Motor completely torn apart and redone. Everything has to original was in my basement for 30+ years. Only thing I had to find was a set of brushes for the roller

This 28 is fairly nice, however, the owner missed the mark with the color and style of the paint used on the base. It should be darker brown, and of the "wrinkle finish" type -- which is available in spray paint in larger hardware or paint stores.

I think anyone who really loves old Hoovers will agree with me that this just "doesn't look right." It would be like painting an old Electrolux purple or orange!

Here's a pic of my Hoover 28 with attachments, box, and instructions. Completely refurbished by Tom Anderson in 2006 (Thanks again, Tom!). Bag and cord are replacements, everything else is original 28.

TV Show Sighting

Here's a screenshot from THE LUCY SHOW S3—E13 "Lucy the Coin Collector" originally televised on December 14, 1964, which appears to be a Model 28. Scene background ... Jerry finds a vintage penny worth 50¢, which gives Lucy the idea of withdrawing a bag of 2000 pennies from the Danfield Bank in hopes of finding a collectible one herself. When she and Viv accidentally spill the pennies on their kitchen floor she decides to pick them up with a vacuum cleaner!
