I was given this for free from a family friend. Its all tubed and still works...turntable doesn't. Sounds and looks as if new. very well taken care of.

Very nice machine! Alex, you know your not going to find one of those in a van down by the river.
Nice hutch type RCA Hi-Fi system.What is the TT not doing?It can be fixed!Can't complain on the price.For free the TT can be repaired.

You better make long term plans to keep that one! It seems to be pretty well thought of in collector circles. That changer will likely come to life with very little effort.

Yes. It was free. It was the guy's sister's stereo. She just went into a rest home due to dementia...and he was moving into her apartment and said it was in his way. He either wanted to give it away or throw it out. The turntable won't spin. I can hear it running, so I'm thinking the idler wheel. I haven't takeb it apart to look inside yet. It also needs a new needle, but it makes noise when I rub my finger over the cartridge. I had never saw one like this. I was use to the console stereos of the 70's which sat lower, solid state, and had a turntable, am/fm, and 8 track. No plans to let it go.

Sounds like you need to remove the C Clip that holds the platter to the TT spindle.Then clean the rubber idle tire with alchohol-clean the inside rim of the TT platter where the idler tire rides-this should get the TT going agin.You may want to check the changer mechanism for dried grease-age and the heat from the amps dries it out.Clean the dried grease off the parts with a Q-Tip dampened in alchohol then apply new grease to the parts with another Q-tip-this should get the changer part working again.Done this many times--Daul,Magnavox,VM,Garrad,and so on.

Calem....don't even start! Sure my dream house hasn't seen humans since (at the most recent) 2001, but i can make anything beautiful, especially that lovely old house!
The only vans I'm interested in are the ones delivering me a fresh KIRBY! ....or HOOVER, Depending on the mood I'm in...That reminds me about a KIRBY experience i had last night with my Classic III, If i don't post it in one of your threads, I'll message you it!
