This is an antique House-Maid hand held vacuum cleaner. Model 60. It was made by the Clements manufacturing, the same one who made the Cadillac vacuums (not related to the automobile co.). House Maid was a private label for Clements, as was CoOp. In 1950, Consumer Reports mentioned that there was no need to spend the extra $20 to buy the upright as the "Cadillac" , but you would be wise to spend $20 LESS and buy it as a House Maid (or save another $10 and buy it as a CoOp - but only if you were a member of a CoOp store){thanks to you guys for that info ;}. We are guessing this one is from the 30's or 40's. The vacuum runs and vacuums. The cord has some cracks as shown in the pics and I am sure it needs cleaned and serviced. The bag has some staining and needs cleaned up but is intact and feels solid. The brush bar turns but the belt is just one we had on the shelf and it is slightly long so the bar doesn't have much torque, a new proper belt should correct this. The bag hangs on a wire piece that screws down with the handle screw and I don't know if this wire is original or not but it holds the bag well. Shipping in a large flat rate box. How about $20 plus the postage? It will be shipped with the handle and bag hanging wire removed, so some minor assembly will be required.
