Rainbow R1024 Powernozzle find.

I’ve came across several Older D3s recently, most are like the one I already have and are trashed at that. I found this D3 with the R1024 Power nozzle and thought I better take it home. The whole setup is in surprisingly good shape for a machine of its age. The underside of the powernozzle was shockingly clean and the underside of the power unit is very clean too. The only problem with it is that the latches for the water basin have snapped off. The motor bearings are going to need to be replaced too, but I think they have just succumbed to age and not misuse. This does create a problem though because the power nozzle (which is what I was interested in out of this setup) is wired for a three wire cord. Will have to either fix up the suction or rewire the power nozzle to use it. I’m going to have to have a rainbow spa day and get the D2 chrome dome fixed up as well, it’s still laying in parts in the living room!

A neat idea would be to replace the tired "Disturbulator" in your R1024G with a "Vibra-Groomer I" for extra cleaning power!

Yes, I know every variation of the R1024 (made by Eureka) used a three-wire cord since the type B version (from 1975). So yes, your best option will be to change out the present two-wire power nozzle receptacle to a three-wire one.

I would be more like 1976. In 1976 Eureka went from a base plate that just snapped on and off the head, to one that was mounted with two screws. Also, the elbow that the wand goes into was made out of metal in 1972 through 1975, was then changed to plastic. Furthermore the wands were then changed from having metal clips and the cord tracks, to the plastic retainers that were permanently mounted on the back of the wand.
