rainbow question- please respond asap as im trying to use it!

hey guys so i just got my first modern-ish rainbow (D4), and in the box with the power nozzle, there is a piece of paper that talks about a non-wetable particle filter. It says that it shouldnt be used in normal conditions. so i checked in the blower port cover thingy, and there was a sponge-filter in it- is that the aforementioned filter or just a normal filter? it cuts down the suction greatly, but without it the machine is much louder and the expelled air is very strong

That is the non wettable filter. You would only use it for that reason. It needs to be taken out during normal cleaning.

Are you talking about that round cap that goes in that hole where the exhaust comes out? I've always wondered what that was for...........

The plug and the sponge filter are two distict pieces...

with different functions. With the cap in place the exhaust is expelled from four equidistant slits in the body just above the water basin. There is an inner layer that guides the air to those slots. The sponge filter simply traps non-wettable dirt.

A better way to trap non wettable dirt is to use Aquawet in the water basin. It is a non-foaming, non-sudsing surfactant that reduces the surface tension of water and allows it to retain debris it would normally be unable to trap. It works. I have used it to rid carpets of excessive amounts of carpet fresh. Dry wall dust is never a good thing to pick up, but if there is no other vacuum around, and the bulk of it has been swept up with a broom, Aquawet can greatly enhance the dust retention of the water.

I've used JetDry Rinse Aid (just a couple of drops) in my basin each time I use it. Even though I'm not vacuuming anything non-wettable (that I know of)...But I guess I just do it as insurance........I read that somewhere that it was basically the same thing as Aquawet.....but I don't know for sure.....But it doesn't foam unless I put too much........

So the cap just directs the air elsewhere? What good is that supposed to do? Just sending the air in another direction......? I don't get that part

Instead of...

A forceful stream blowing out the back, the exhaust is dispersed 360 degrees. It allows the air wash/scent functions to be more effective more quickly, and not a small consideration, it makes the Rainbow more quiet. From the D2 onward the blwoer cap served to disperse the air 360 degrees

Cool. That almost sounds like it can also be used to dry carpets after shampooing.......

Are the new Rainbows considered sealed? I would think they are. Mine only has exhaust coming straight out the back of the hepa

Actually the manual for my D2 tells you to put the hose on the blower port and put the crevice tool on the end of the hose. Then slide it under a freshly shampooed carpet for quicker drying.
I don't think they they were meaning wall-to-wall, as that would be hard to lift up to get the tool under, but if it were an area rug it could see where the air flow could be helpful.
