Hi everyone,

I just bought a Rainbow Model D on eBay and have a question. Is it safe to store the machine on the water pan as long as the pan is dry and it is not clamped to it? I have limited storage space and if this is ok it would be great.

The link is to the auction listing. I know it is a little pricey, but it looks to be in great shape.

after i dump out the water in my rainbow i give the water basin a quick rinse in the bathroom sink i towel dry it and then just put the machine back on the water basin, as long as you make sure that the water basin is completely dry than it should be safe to put the machine back on the tank. we have been doing this ever since we got our Rainbow and there has been no problem with doing this.

Ya I know with all my rainbows I keep them stored with the basin clamped on the bottom as long ad they are dry the hose spout is enough ventilation. Oh and btw very nice find one of my faverote rainbows. Zach

The reason...

Why you are NOT supposed to store the motor on the pan is, the foam gasket absorbs some water, no matter if the pan is dry, the gasket always holds a small amount of water, when you clamp the pan back on, this water is gradually forced out and condenses in the motor, this is why they say never store motor on pan...its ok if its never used, because the gasket will dry eventually, but if used regularly over time corrosion will be a problem.
