RainbowE2B/E2 Gold

Just wanted to write a post on here as I have read all of your posts for some time and decided to join. I am a complete Rainbow loyal 100% I just purchased a Rainbow E2 Black with a manufacture date of 2/14. There are a few major upgrades they did to it with the new PN and the electric auto shut off for accessories. I really love it, traded my 2011 platinum for it and I also have a 2006 E2 Gold, first model with acoustic foam. Hope to keep reading more posts from you all!

Rainbow e2 Black

Have had my e-2 black since November, have over 400 vacs in my collection, and this is the only vac I use. what a wonderful machine!!!!!

Rainbow E2 black

I have had mine for over 2 years.
I am still very happy with the machine. Getting ready to use the Aquamate today.
The one draw back I see, is that it is a heavy machine.
If you CHANGE that water every 30-40 minutes, your machines will stay very clean. My hepa filter was completely white after 2 years and I really USE my machine for all types of real dirty jobs (like cleaning the garage floor in winter).

Much more use friendly than the earlier Rainbows.
I tell anyone who has one to make sure and get the over the door chrome attachment and hose holder. Ken Bashford was wonderful to deal with from start to finish and has been very good for any products or supplies after the sale.

I have the E2 Gold 2 speed with acoustic foam bought new in Summer 2006. It had actually been a couple of months since I used it...Normally I'm a neat/clean freak but let things go the past couple of weeks. Tuesday I broke the Rainbow out and spent 5 hours cleaning everything and God what it pulled up. It's crazy how super clean everything feels when you've used it to clean everything top to bottom. But it's exhausting! (not because I find it heavy, but just feeling like since it's out, I might as well get EVERTYTHING (not just a quick run through) Sometimes I DREAD getting out it because when I do, I can't stop and I tell myself, "since I have it out, I might as well get "this area" or "that area" and it ends up becoming this HUGE job........But in the end, it's worth it to me.....I would LOVE to upgrade to the Black Rainbow, but I won't as long as I'm pretty happy with this one. I also upgraded my hose a while back so I can use the Aquamate 3....Soon I will have to wash my carpets ...I did once already and it cleaned them great :)

Rainbow E2 Black

Mark,
You can see what I am doing today!
The rinse water was black from all the tracking in this winter.
I am doing the carpets first and then snap on the Rainbowjet and do the kitchen hardwoods while the Rainbow is already out and set up.

As I stated in my first post,

I had a 2011 blue platinum rainbow with manufacture date of 1/11. You can imagine how upset I was when my Mom upgraded her 06 Gold, in 2/11 and I got a call from her saying her new Rainbow looked "different" than mine. She's like it's all black and her manufacture date was 2/11 one month after mine. So after 2 long years of waiting, I finally got it, just hope they don't change it again. My rep doesn't think they will for awhile because of all the new accessories that just came out, supermop, minijet etc.
the only thing I don't like is the fact that I had every accessory for my platinum and nothing fits so now I have to rebuild, as I want a matching set and I want it all. LOL

Mark, I still love my gold e-2. Other than the black I think it was my favorite machine, always thought it looked classy. If you ever get the chance to upgrade I say go for it. The new side belt power nozzle is the best thing rainbow has ever done. My Mom has the center belt black nozzle and is upgrading to side belt because airflow and brushroll is so much better. Not to mention the fact that the new side belt doesn't gobble up area rugs. Just goes over them and cleans them like a champ. I have owned a lot of rainbows, and the airflow you hear from the new PN is like none other.
Love reading all your posts btw and it's so nice to know I'm not the only crazy person obsessed with these machines!

I do have the Rainbow storage rack and my platinum system fit on it perfectly. My Black PN and wand does not tho :-(

new black Rainbow E2

fandb22,

I may not be using my storage rack as it was designed. I like all the "parts" and hose on the rack and the power nozzle and wands stand by themselves.
It can store the Rainbowjet and all the tools.

fandb22,

I think you are also correct about the new power nozzle. The side belt does not "grab" the ends of the light rugs like my center belt design.
One of the worst power nozzles I ever had for that was the German made design. It would stall and shut off every time you got near the end of the rug and you had to stop and up end the power nozzle to restart it. It also had NO rug guard on the bottom of the nozzle so it would grab and tangle anything in it's path.
If you notice the 2nd edition E2 power nozzle has a quite different sound to it's motor from the first power nozzle that came with my E2 Black Rainbow.
Have you noticed that the Rainbow power nozzle does not tend to get threads and hair wrapped around the brush like so many other machines?
I think it is due to the larger diameter of the agitator itself.

I like what you did with the storage rack! I might try that! That new power nozzle is amazing.

Does anyone have any tips on keeping your water basin looking brand new? I clean and dry mine every time, but after two years on my platinum model it was starting to get ugly. I really love how the water looks swirling in a beautiful new looking basin, especially on the new illuminated model. Any ideas would be appreciated!

I haven't noticed the threads, but I have only had mine 3 weeks. My neighbor saw a demo to help me get the rainbowmate, and I went over to give her some maintenance tips, I noticed her brushroll was almost completely rolled with hair as she has long hair, so kind of unsure there.

Rainboow Black E2

Fandb22.

I am the wrong person to ask about the water basin as I use mine almost every day and it has been used to pick up gravel, rocks, sand etc.
Unlike so many who collect change and use many different machines, this is THE machine I use almost every day. When I am finished I dump the water basin and just rinse it out.
I think the key is to change the water when it gets real dirty and clean the separator when it gets dirty.

After you use your Rainbow for a few months, you will notice you don't have to change the water as often and the separator stays clean a lot longer.
I am sure Mike and Mark can back me up on this fact about the water changes.

In my case, no careful washing and drying. Just dump, rinse and it sits in the bathroom ready for the next use. I found it easier to keep the water basin where I fill and dump. I have been told you can buy some type of plastic cleaner for car lens that will restore the finish. An extra basin came with the machine but I have never used it.

I also know what you are talking about with the brush roll. I think ALL brush rolls will collect some hair but I did notice my Rainbow was much better than some of my other power nozzle canisters with the threads tangling on the roller.
I think Hoover had it right years ago with the soft brush and the beater bars.

Help!

I was just getting ready to clean in my basement and was cleaning the separator on my Gold E2, set the separator aside wiped my gaskets, dogs needed out and a few other interruptions. Came back filled the water basin and turned it on, all of a sudden water came gushing out of the hepa and it took me a minute to realize I never put the separator back on. I have it on an empty basin right now on high as if I cleaned my hepa. Did I ruin my machine??? It sounds ok right now
