Does anyone here have any ideas over whether or not the Rainbow D3A was ever any good when ordered with the Eureka-made R-1024 power nozzle?

I am, of course, talking about the D3A as sold between July 1980 and February 1981, before Rexair replaced the R-1024 in March 1981 with its in-house creation the R-1650.

Yes!

I have a friend who bought one new and has been using it ever since! The D3 motors run hot, but under normal household conditions they do ok...NOT as good as a d4 in my opinion!

My parents bought a D3A new in April 1981. It came with the R-1650 nozzle. We used it for many years until my Dad and I bent the armature when we were trying to put in the second set of bearings in it. I still have the power nozzle and like it better than the later ones with the leaky airflow adjuster on top. It has been a real workhorse! I have vacuumed a lot of miles with that one. I still use it once in a while with my D3C.
