I'm hoping some Rainbow people will be able to help me on this one. I really like using my Rainbow D3 that I got at the VCCC convention, and after a good cleaning, and a new hose, it turned out pretty well. The only problem is that it sounds like it could blow up when in use. The motor shakes so badly that I'm scared to use it. If I put my hand on the top housing, it quiets it down significantly, but obviously, I can't do that when I vacuum. I tried tightening a few screws on the underside, but that didn't help. I'm not too well versed fixing Rainbows, as some of you may know.

A common problem...

The fans have dirt in them throwing them out of balance. it needs a good tearing down and cleaning. Rainbows have this problem as they age. might try a new separator. the hole in them sometimes wallows out with age and makes them vibrate.

Try running it, WITHOUT water, with the separator off. Ive seen that cause your problem before, but if it still sounds awful, the motor needs a good rebuild, and possibly new bearings.

If you would like to you can send it to us and we would be glad to do it for you! We have a wide range of available parts and I'm positive my distributor will work out a good deal with you.

Ive been there too..

Just hold onto it and I'm sure one of our Rainbow experts will be glad to help you when you can. I haven't worked on one in years and no one could pay me enough!LOL

Oh yeah,

I know what you mean about that. I refuse to tear into any Rainbow older than the E2 one speed. Those are pretty easy. But the older ones are ridiculous! I tore up my old chrome dome because I wasn't paying attention and forgot how it went.
