I'm having trouble with my Riccar 8850. When vacuuming, the slide switch keeps moving from the "carpet" to the "floor" setting shutting off the brush roll. I find this to be a pain since I use this cleaner commercially, today I ended up having to put a piece of tape on the switch to keep it in the carpet position in order to finish the job. Only thing I've done is replace the brush roll strips and belt, However this problem was happening before then, just not as often. Right now the switch has to be taped or it just slides right into the floor position as soon as I start to vacuum. Any advice on how to solve this annoyance would be greatly appreciated. Besides this small issue I love the Riccar 8850, is very powerful and quiet.

Of course the brush and the control rod coming off of the selector must be installed properly. On the end of the brush is a rubber clutch that cams back and forth when the rod is moved by the selector. The rubber clutch can wear, it is part # C012-0400. They also have a washer kit for the clutch, it allows you to adjust the pressure by adding thin shims, it also comes with the instructions, part #B40 for the washer kit.
