A friend gave me a PN1 that is in better cosmetic shape than the one I have for my tan Model G. My goal is to remove the cover and repaint it from turquoise to off white.

The PN1 given had an unusual elbow in that it has a "button" instead of a lever. No problem, I just switched out for the long plastic one piece wand.

After changing over everything and with the cover off, I tried out the PN1....something I should have already done.

I noticed some arcing from one of the two brushes.

What could be causing that and should I switch motors?

clean the armature with 2000 grit sandpaper or a carbon seating stone if there is space for one. if you dont have a stone. sand the carbons flat and let them reseat themselves plus sanding the armature with sandpaper as mentioned above.
