@vacfan1982 I didn't he took what I said out of context.

What I said was if he followed his own advice he would contracted it, if he lived in a more populated area. That I mentioned he was in the group most at risk right now.
He lives in a town that's extremely small 18k according to the last census.
that will be one of the last places affected.
But that one right over a couple people's heads.

my point is if everybody wears protective gear the faster this thing goes away.

It's more testing that's needed then the people who test positive can be isolated. This worked extremely well in South Korea. Eventually we will have a vaccine.

It's scary stuff, a 13 yr old with no health issues passed away in the UK yesterday 😳

I live in a city with 120,000 people and have never worn a mask and have never been sick. I wash my hands before and after leaving a store, and wash my face and hands again when I get home. That's all I've done. I've probably been out to 25 stores in the past month and a half, some for 15 mins, some for an hour and a half. Never been sick.

The people getting sick and dying from the virus are already susceptible to it from a weak immune system due to their diet (vegans) or their genetic disposition passed down through their family. The virus is more harmful in large cities where pollution is a factor and people breathe in pollution constantly which tears down their immune system. Smokers, drug users, etc all have weak immune and respiratory systems so they will get affected by it sooner.

If you are over 60 you have the greatest risk of contracting the virus. Anyone between 12 and 30 has a very very small risk rate of contracting it unless they have the above mentioned problems.

Just practice basic common sense hygiene and you will be fine.

I only had to buy a mask because of stupid stores putting ARMED GUARDS at their entrances to prevent people from coming in without a mask. And I am not waiting until July to get stuff done while my house falls apart (as well as my hair which hasn't been cut since September).

Less than 3K people in the US under the age of 65 have died of this flu to date (.00008% of US population). 95% of them had pre-existing conditions. For now I'll pull up some fabric over my mouth to get into a store because it is required, but soon I'll claim medical disability so I don't have to do that.

People just need to do some homework for themselves and look at data and learn from posts like frkirby560 posted above and realize this is WAAAAAY overblown vs. the gazillion other ways one can become sick and/or die. They say stress can cut years off one's life worse than smoking. The stress some people have over this because of the media and government officials seeking viewership/ratings will shorten a lot of people's lives.

My HEPA filters are too precious to destroy for this.

Younger aged people are getting cocky because they tend to think they are infallible in general.  (Gee, I've never thought that way.  nope)

But hey, if the illegal drugs, unprotected sex, alcoholism, and generally stupid stunts don't rid us of these morons, there's always a good unpredictable pandemic to render them a liability.

As far as proper masks.  I've heard the argument that HEPA vacuum bags, or really any vacuum bags, shouldn't be cut up and used for a mask.

First, a 'home made' mask that is religiously worn when in the midst of the general population is better than NO Mask at all.  I think the HEPA is probably a better filter material compared to a paper mask, though a  piece of vacuum bag with rubber bands used to hold it on is missing the elastic gathers on the edges and around the nose.

Second, I've heard people say that HEPA vac bags aren't good because they weren't made for direct contact.  I'd argue against that because where in fact are portable vac bags venting?  They are inside and people are breathing what comes out of vacuum bag regardless of if it's HEPA.  Also, there is a lot more air flow when a vacuum is running vs. when a person is breathing through it.

Third, we can't expect these to be perfect.  Even a proper respirator is not guaranteed to filter out a pesky air-borne virus.  These are just paper clumsily applied to our faces. The main benefit is in providing some direct barrier to our intake and exhaust of air.

It's the equivalence of a vestibule or enclosed porch on our house.  Its a protection from rain, snow, heavy wind, and significant heat loss.  But it isn't perfect.

Fourth, don't assume everyone you see in public who isn't wearing protection is a defiant p.o.s. who doesn't care about his or other's health or that they are a mas(k)ochist   (see what I did there, lol).   Some literally don't have resources to buy or make protection.  Some have not been educated to what's going on.

Wow

One looks away from the mounting statistics for just a few days it creeps up.  80K just in the U.S. as of today.

That's a cities worth of people or several towns worth of people gone in just a few weeks.

Regarding that Lindhaus mask . . .

I'm looking at this Lindhaus mask and I can't seem to find it for sale anywhere. They also don't have any spec for filtration, especially down to .3 micron, which is the stopping point for n95 respirators.

How much is this Lindhaus mask? Or, is it yet another vaporware mask offering?
