I picked this up from Goodwill yesterday for $8. It was a return due to the motor burning out, but I had an ineffective Robeson with the same internal wiring and motor that I swapped out. It has a beautiful startup sound, probably due to the metal blades being quieter and weighing it down. Was this sold at any particular store? It is a 1983 Lakewood P20 going by the tag in the shell, but says Lady Price on the cage. Thanks!

I have no idea but it's always fun to take parts from two machines, be fans or vacuum cleaners or whatever, and make one that's better than either of the donors were on their own.

Just type

"vintage electric fan clubs" or antique in your search window, there are a lot of clubs and I'm sure they can help you with that.

Are you sure?
Whenever I try to find fan collecting clubs, all I get is AFCA (Antique Fan Collector’s Association) and their affiliates, and the charge a $50 annual fee to join! 😧

I'd say most likely a store rebrand. I've heard of Lakewoods under a few different names but not that one. Maybe it was for a small regional chain?

By the way, it doesn't cost anything to post on the AFCA forum. Some on the forum like these fans too, and most of the regional fan meets are free. I go to some in Florida.

I have a very similar fan, branded a Superlectric model 2026. It is painted aqua with white plastic grills.
There were many different names for basically the same design.
I bought mine at a flea market for $5 and restored it. I use it outside while working and it has that cool startup sound you mention - harmonics amplified by the metal blades. The fan works well - better than the new box fans with skimpy plastic blades.
I was on the DT vintage fan site for quite a few years before it went away - I sure miss that site. I am a fan of old fans - have a couple dozen or so...

The sister site to this website has a hyperlink at the top.
I have an account but haven't posted on it yet.

No, it's definitely Lakewood manufactured. Westinghouse box fans were different, and they weren't selling box fans after the mid-70s.
