I went to a yard sale yesterday and picked up a hand held vac for $1.00.The bag says premier spic-span.There's a metal tag on the vac that has the model#86 and was made by the electric vacuum cleaner co.,cleveand oh.The bag is in good shape no holes or fraying. The color is a little faded though. The vac itself runs great. The finish however was tarnished pretty bad.It took me 2hrs. using my dremel and mother's metal polish to get shining like new again.Does anyone know about these vacs? Any help here would be appreciated.Thank You,
Mike

Have Premier Spic Span and Pic Ups in my collection

I have a Premier Spic Span hand vac--I believe it's a Model 86--in my collection. I believe the Spic Span you have is from the late 1920's or early '30's. Before Premier was sold to General Electric about 1930, it was called the Electric Vacuum Cleaner Co.

The Premier was first the Frantz Premier, manufactured and sold by the Frantz Brothers. When the Frantz Premier was first designed, Jim Kirby worked with the Frantz Brothers in designing it. About 1920 the Frantz Premier became the Premier. Upright models early on were the Premier Duplex and Premier Junior. Hand vacs were first Spic Spans and then Pic Ups with revolving brush.

I have one of the Frantz Premier uprights--from about 1917.

Hope this helps.
