I saw a Premier upright on ebay with tools. What I found odd was that the booklet that comes with it says "Premier Whirlwind Shetland". Did all those companies band together? What is a Whirlwind? I am still comfused about GE/Premier. Now I am really baffled!

@chan55 . . .

My vacuum history is never what it should be but -- through a fog cloud dimly . . .

That is a Premiere vac of an initial General Electric design circa the early 1960s. Premiere, besides being a vac brand since way, way back in the day was as an alternate brand name GE used for modern vacs during the 60s and 70s and probably even further down the line.

Somebody here must know how come. Personally, I do not know or comprehend how that particular vacuum came to have any association with Shetland or Whirlwind as on the printed piece in the image. (Though Whirlwind may have been another branding alternate for GE).

What would be hot -- is if it is a metal version like the first GEs of its type.

The attachments are a mish-mosh. The hose end is definitely right but the brown dusting brush is Hoover. The green tools are the same as used with the little portable vac GE made. I'm at a loss re the wand as I've no recall of the original tools set that would have been offered with this machine.

Whirlwind . . .

It wasn't a great awakening but I just looked further down the page where the Premiere upright is posted on eBay and there is a Whirlwind canister posted too. Again, it is a GE vacuum renamed.

I cant be totally certain about this but I suspect that the poster took the names off of a package of bags - To fit Premier, Whilwind, Shetland upright vaccum cleaners.
