Premier Duplex

I found a Premier on Craigslist along with an Electrolux XXX both in excellent
condition and very reasonably priced. I mainly collect early Cleveland, Ohio
vacuums so the Premier attracted my attention. I'm stumped because the Premier has no serial number or name tag....in fact, there is no evidence that it ever had a name tag mounted on it. I know it was made by the Geier Co. in Cleveland but do not know the years of production. It looks like a 1940s machine to me and has the art deco styling of the 40s.....I'm hoping it is earlier.
Any input ??

No.....

The Premier's were made by General Electric. I was a line owned by GE that was suppose to be more affordable. It started in the late 20's and went all the way through to the late 70's or early 1980's.  Here are pics of my 1949 GE to compare.

Manufacturer

I mis-spoke in my post....it's the Electric Vacuum Co. in Clev.
I have a Premier Spic and Span hand held with a very similar bag design..
since my Premier Duplex has no name badge, I assume that it is of the same era
and manufacture as the hand held......??

Premier

Here are a couple pics of my Premier model PR21. It's a little newer, I'm thinking late 40's or early 50's. It was built in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Only the earliest Premiers, which were called Franz-Premier, were built in Cleveland. However, one thing we have in common is that most of my collection was built in Ohio as well. I have Kirbys, Royals, Electro-Hygienes, and other Royal products from Cleveland, Hoovers from North Canton, and AirWays from Toledo. Westinghouse may or may not be considered an Ohio vacuum, because although they were built in Springfield, Massachusetts, the appliance division was headquartered in Mansfield, OH.

I know that particular model was very heavily advertised, along with Premier's small portable vacuum, right before the War. I won't be back until after Thanksgiving; then I'll drag out the ads and have a look. There may even be a model number listed in the ads. Another Pic

Here's my Premier hand held with the same bag design. The label states that it
was manufactured by the Electric Vacuum Co. in Cleveland,Ohio......so, I
assumed that my newly acquired one was the same manufacturer.

<span style="font-family: helvetica;">Here's one of the ads. Some were too big to scan. Most were dated between late 1938 through 1940. After the War, the style changed. None of the ads contained the model number. As you can see, Premier was marketing this vacuum, along with the small "Vac-Kit", as a set of "partners".This marketing technique was used by Premier going way back to the 1930's, and by G.E.</span>
