Hi All,
Are there any powerhead canister vacuums on the market right now that are being sold without a gas pump grip besides the Perfect canister/Aerus classic? I miss the old pistol grip hoses found on Kenmore Power-Mates, Hoover Spirits, etc from the 80's/90s. Even my old 2002 Miele S528 Filtration Guard canister had an electric hose without a gas pump handle. My one year old Miele Cat and Dog canister has a gas pump grip and I'm just not a fan. I'd love to find a canister without such a bulky handle besides the Aerus entry-level cleaner.

a couple of options

I'm also not a huge fan of the gas pump handle, I will deal with it, but it's not my first choice. It is very popular though. I have some suggestions, but they involve a bit of improvising. The Miele C1 straight suction canisters have an excellent pistol grip handle, not sure if the C3's straight suction hose is pistol or gas pump. Also, the Electrolux ultra one classic's hose has a good pistol grip. If you got one of these canisters, you could add a power nozzle in a couple different ways. The easiest way is to get the volt battery powered nozzle, I just got one of these and it's awesome, just attach it to the end of the hose and start cleaning. If you would rather use a different power nozzle, there is a cord you can get that plugs in to an outlet and the other end connects to an electric power nozzle, if you want to go this root, let me know and I can post the link for one of these. It does seem that most canisters that include electric hoses are using gas pump grips now, I think the pistol grip is much easier to work with though.

One thing you could do, if you like the Aerus Guardian Platinum & you want something high end, is to buy a Aerus Classic hose & Aerus Guardian Platinum machine end & make a hose with a pistol grip for the Platinum. They do sell that machine end separately as a part, & it would be fairly easy to do yourself at home. The best part about that would be, if you bought a complete Aerus Classic wand as well & had a buttonlocker installed, you could use the Platinum with virtually any powerhead you want on the market.
