So I've had my Power Tank for almost a year now. Unfortunately, the connection for the power nozzle in the handle had become bad. Since royal used their own connection, you have to replace the entire circuit board. Of course, this is a NLA part! Anyways, a suitable hose came up for sale on Ebay recently and I won it. Now to find the missing attachments!

New hose

The new hose is also shorter. I thought that all Power Tanks had a 7.5 ft hose, except for the burgundy classic model, which had a 10ft hose. I guess not. I would switch the board into the longer hose, but the new one is in much better shape. I guess it's just nice to be able to use my Power Tank again.

What did they do to it?

My next project with this machine is to work on the power nozzle. The rug guards have been broken off. Is this a Cen-Tec power nozzle? Would the base off another Cen-Tec work with this? Any other suggestions?

Bonus!

The seller was actually selling this as hose and power nozzle replacement. They took a Filter Queen power nozzle and wired in a Royal pigtail. Wasn't the Optima a bagged Filter Queen? There isn't a lot of discussion about it in the archives.

Double Bonus!

Since the seller went through the trouble to wire a new pig tail you think they could have went to the trouble to clean it too. I was going to try it out with the Power Tank, but it will need a new belt. It was okay on low suction, but when I put it on full power is it overwhelmed the nozzle and the brush roll stopped turning.

Optima

Yes,a bagged FG(or Princess as it was for vac stores). Many dealers and customers felt it showed how well FQ could make a cone vac and how little they knew of a bag vac!

The Royal-branded power nozzle is the old Whirlpool design. You can get that replacement part from Panasonic or Hayden. DESCO has those base plates for pretty cheap.

The power nozzle is a Cen-Tec CT14DX. They have made a few updates over the years but bases are still producted. With eBay searching, you may be able to find an older style 2 brush strip, single beater bar agitator. But otherwise, these power heads have been using the wooden chevron designed agitator for several years.
