I went to this "flea market" this past weekend. It really wasn't a flea market all it had was flooring and vacuums. Went I went in there most of the vacuums were just cheap bagless vacuum. Nothing interesting. Then I started talking to the guy and he said of I have a bunch more vacuums follow me and I will show you. He took me outside underneath this shelter thing and there was sitting A BUNCH OF OLD VACUUMS!!! There was several F&G style Eurekas. One had a white and blue hood, another with a brown hood etc. I can't remember all of them. Also I am not that into F&G Eurekas. Also a Hoover Convertible and a Hard bagged Hoover Elite. Then the one I got which was a Fantom thunder. Sad thing this place was like a car junk yard but with vacuums. One Eureka was buried in the ground. I plugged the Fantom in and nothing I didn't expect. It didn't do anything except you could here a faint noise. So motor is completely destroyed. I still got because for $5 it has plenty of good parts on it. Even though it has tons of water in it. Also the cover that is around the switch is different then most Fantoms because it has not writing. Was this a different model? One last thing has anyone found vacuums piled up outside before? What Fantoms have you found?

Parts?

Are you going to try and salvage this machine or part it out? I myself recently found a Thunder just like that one, but I need the cover for the hepa filter.

When I was in middle school my neighbor bought a Fantom Crosswind from the JC Pennys catalog. She didn't like it and bought a Kirby G3 from an estate sale. I eventually talked her into selling it to me. There had to have been something wrong with it because it never worked right. At the time my family was very poor, we had were used vacuums and most of the were junk. Grandma finally saved enough money to buy a new Hoover EmPower and sadly she made me get rid of all the junk vacuums, included the Crosswind. I really wish I still had that thing...it didn't work well but it was a cool design.

Fantom Thunder Hoard

I have around 5 whole functioning thunders, one parts thunder and one Kenmore rebadge Destiny. One thunder and the Kenmore have been cleaned up for sale, but have not posted them locally.

Thunders really do a great job on carpets. They can actually "restore" carpets getting out stuff left behind AND waking up the nap on the carpet. They are stored in the garage, under a table out of the elements (except dust). I have been trying to figure out what to do with them....I imagine they would be postage heavy to ship.

I would like the space in the garage to use for other things. If shipped, any advice on packing these would be greatly appreciated.

I have...

I have a Thunder which I basically got the same way you got yours. It was in my local Vac Shop basement. The motor turns on but is super loud, so it is on its way out...
