Do these places exist anymore? I haven't seen one in years and haven't thought much about it till I looked over todays Picture of the Day.

Singer Sewing Centers

There used to be one in Palm springs in the 70's. I remember it as a kid. My Grandmother bought her Golden Touch and Sew there. I think that is where the Model C10 Golden Glide vacuum came from also. Don't know where the vacuum went but the Golden Tough and Sew is still going strong. The store has long since disappeared. There is now a gym in the space where the Singer store was.

There is currently a Singer Store in San Marcos Ca in north San Diego County. No longer like the sewing and vacuum stores of long ago, it is strictly sewing machines, over locks and baby locks new and old. I think they do sewing classes too. I was surprised the see the Singer Sign while i was driving on the freeway one night so i got off at the next exit and back tracked and found the Singer Store in a shopping mall. The store was closed for the day of course but looking through the window it was nice to see all the mahines lined up and older Singers on shelves on the wall.

I know the Singer machines of today are not "real Singers" as we know them but it is still nice that there are Singer Stores still around.

Thanks...

for the info. I remember the Singer Sewing center in Scranton, PA growing up; but it;s not there anymore. I have not ever seen one here in Memphis and I have been living here since 1973 when I graduated from college.
