urgent need help I took my Hoover convertable late 80s models headlight lens out and can't get it in what have I done.!! In the prosess of pressing it back in the retaining plastic broke please help before I do more damage

Ok, I see what we are dealing with. I'd recommend removing the hood just to make things easier. there are tow screws on the bottom that you'll want to remove, they're on the left and right sides of the fan housing, take them out and the hood will come off. The lens is installed from the inside, its not meant to be removed or installed from the outside on these. You'll want to use a little glue to hold it back in place securely, my favorite glue for this is E6000, don't use much, just a couple drops up at the top. You're supposed to remove the entire hood to replace the bulbs on these, but like I said, its very easy to do, just remove those 2 screws and off it pops.

thanks

Thanks guys. I did pry it out foolishly not knowing what I was doing o just changed a few bulbs on my other machines and wanted to take a crack at this one unfortunately that's exactly what I did thanks for the help hopefully it wont look to bad being chipped.

You're a BAD, BAD boy!

Now, you must "cleanse yourself" of all wrong doing by running that HOOVER every day this week. Well, maybe take Thursday off.....................
The important thing is: you have learned how to remove hoods, replace bulbs, install a lens. So, as I tell my students, it was worth getting up today.

Lol, just treat that HOOVER special this Christmas! Make what you did right!

end results

Well I got the hood off lens back in place there are little chips but hardly noticeable unless your right up to it. I put in a brand new bulb and gave it a good clean up and I've used it a lot so it feels special lol. thanks to all who contributed

Hoover

Hi Nathan I am glad you were able to get it right. Dont feel bad about your mistake as long as you learn from it. I can tell you from some of the mistakes i have made Never PRY anything out or force it out unless told to do so. We at this club are so lucky as we have people like John who is our Hoover man and Bill who is as i call him not only a Kirby expert but a very nice person. So have a very nice Thanksgiving God Bless Doug
