I need an off-white (ivory?) plastic cord halo for an Electrolux Deluxe Special, in the brown and ivory color scheme of the Olympia. Does anyone have one by any chance? Thx!

Update: After looking up some photos of this model, some of the halos were dark brown. That would be fine as well.

special cord wrap

I don't think there was ivory. And as Tom mentioned recently the wrap started as optional with a strap to hold first cords. On this I not only know that I have at least 4 in my building I also know they are on the first shelf unit behind workbench next to the small drawer cabinet. And at least 2 should be dark brown. And you are welcome to it fot a small price and shipping. But I will have no time to pack until first of next week.(On some later Specials there was an issue that when changing from halo to cordwinder some needed different screws. But let's leave that for later only if present screws don't fit.)

Thanks Jimmy, I'd love to have one. I guess I should explain why I am looking for one.

I don't have time right now to take a lot of photos, but Monday I found a really lovely "Deluxe Special" at an estate sale, in the box and all original. It's in nice condition except that the hose is shot of course.

It has an automatic cord winder that's whacked so I just want to replace it with a halo. I've always liked having the lower-tier models as "economy" as possible, e.g., no automatic cord winder.

I am wondering, though, about the cord. Will I also have to get a new cord if I do this? I don't know how the cord will attach to, or come out of, the motor housing. Can I just remove the cord from the cord winder and re-connect inside the motor?

I looked all over the Internet for photos of the rear-end of a Deluxe Special but couldn't find any, so I don't know what to do about the cord.

Thanks,

The cord for the "special" had a special machine-end plug held onto the machine with two screws that went through the plug. Once you remove the automatic cord winder, you'll need that special cord with special plug to replace it before attaching the new Halo. I believe I have that cord, in beige, at the Museum. I'll look tomorrow and post a pic of the cord's special machine-end plug.

I'll post some photos of mine in a few days. Right now I'm just swamped with stuff and can't take the time. I shouldn't even have gone and gotten it as it ended up taking half the morning (thanks to the Hellish Mess that the 405 is these days). But it was worth it -- even though it's not a model I have ever craved, I do have a soft spot for Electrolux's low-tier models. When I was a kid, some households had Model Es, Ss, Rs, Ls, and even at least one T! I always liked them because they were different from the "regular" models I'd see more often -- XXXs & LXs (in the older ladies' homes), and many E-As, Fs & Gs.

Not to be a pest, but I haven't yet found a dark brown cord halo, and the special cord for the non-cord-winder model, for the brown and ivory Electrolux Special model. I hope someone can come up with these for me as I really want to play with my new treasure! :)
